5:30 PM - 6:30 PM    Lego Adventures: Get Your Lego Game On! - LEGO Adventures: Get Your Lego Game On! (GR K-5)
Get Your Lego Game On!Are you a Lego master? If so, it’s time to show off your skills! Each week in Lego Adventures, there is a new challenge to build: From skyscrapers to farms, bridges to airports, space stations to main streets, and everything in between! First, our Right Brain Curriculum instructors will review the history of what we are about to build: How airports graduated from landing strips to vast travel networks, how Depression-era farms survived hordes of grasshoppers, how aeroelasticity explains why the Tacoma bridge nicknamed “Galloping Gertie” collapsed. Then, it’s time to build. You will create a model of each type of structure out of an enormous assortment of provided Legos, then present your creation as we photograph and document it. Learning and Legos: Now that's an adventure.Instructor:  Right Brain Curriculum, founded in 2016, is a New England-based education company that offers engaging, interactive learning programs. Our mission is to create outstanding, student-centered enrichment programs that allow young learners to acquire new life skills and embark on educational adventures.

Learn different patterns and techniques to make quilt blocks that can be put together for a table topper, wall hanging or the start of a bed quilt.  This class is for beginners and intermediate sewers.  Students have the options to bring a sewing machine to class, or hand sew during class and finish their work by machine at home.  Your first class will be held at a fabric store where you will pick out materials for your project.  You will receive a discount on purchases that evening.Instructor:  Melissa J. DawsonSince making her first quilt in 1995 Melissa has tried various techniques and styles, but regardless of technique, design or materials they all rely on understanding the basics of measuring, color and construction. This beginning class will introduce these basics and encourage students to expand them into their own unique sense of color and design.

Pilates is a mind, body, and spirit practice with benefits that include improved posture, better coordination and balance.  Increase lung capacity and improve concentration and focus. Increase body awareness, stress management, and injury prevention. Mat Pilates is a great choice for all levels of Pilates practitioners because the exercises not only can build in difficulty, but every exercise can also be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge. Practicing Mat Pilates helps build a strong, balanced body and increases flexibility. As you progress in your practice, you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, and body awareness. Salsa for beginners is a structured, progressive class for those who have never had salsa instruction.  Practice footwork and learn to develop timing to ensure that your steps are on the beat.  No partner is required for the high-energy exercise/dance program!Please be sure to wear simple, low-heeled, non-stick salsa or jazz shoes to class.  Jazz or Latin shoes are recommended.Instructor: Deborah HilseDeb has been dancing for over 20 years and has been in many performance dance groups over the years.  She has been teaching dance in the Merrimack Valley area for over 10 years and loves teaching new dancers and introducing them to the world of social dancing for both the physical and social benefits.

This course prepares students for the SAT Test.  It is designed to reduce anxiety and increase test scores.  Students will learn what types of questions to expect and how to apply test-taking strategies to improve their performance.    2024/2025 SAT Test Dates:- Saturday, October 5, 2024 (Register by September 20, 2024)- Saturday, November 2, 2024 (Register by October 18, 2024)- Saturday, December 7, 2024 (Register by November 22, 2024)- Saturday, March 8, 2025 (Register by February 21, 2025- Saturday, May 3, 2025 (Register by April 18, 2025)- Saturday, June 7, 2025 (Register by May 22, 2025)An SAT workbook is included.  Update on Class Materials for Math:  1) You do not need to buy a calculator for SAT class. Whatever you use in regular math class will be fine.2) If you use a school-provided calculator in math class that stays at school, then you *may* want to bring their own calculator to SAT class, but3) A graphing calculator is built-in to the new digital SAT. This class is based on your own individual project. The first class is held at Jo- Ann Fabrics in Westford, where you will receive help in choosing a pattern, fabric, and the supplies you will need for your project. In the following classes, you will learn how to measure correctly, read, adjust, cut out a pattern, and put it all together. Bringing your own sewing machine to class is required.  Instructor: Therese Quinn.About Our Instructor:Therese Quinn has been sewing for the past 35 years, and has taught adult education for the past 16 years. She is experienced in making girl officer, crossing guard, and cheerleading uniforms. Also she has experience in making and altering bridal gowns and wedding party dresses. Along with those, she makes custom drapes, English smocked dresses, and children’s clothing from christening dresses up to prom dresses.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM    SAT Preparation - SAT Preparation — Math
This course prepares students for the SAT Test.  It is designed to reduce anxiety and increase test scores.  Students will learn what types of questions to expect and how to apply test-taking strategies to improve their performance.    2024/2025 SAT Test Dates:- Saturday, October 5, 2024 (Register by September 20, 2024)- Saturday, November 2, 2024 (Register by October 18, 2024)- Saturday, December 7, 2024 (Register by November 22, 2024)- Saturday, March 8, 2025 (Register by February 21, 2025- Saturday, May 3, 2025 (Register by April 18, 2025)- Saturday, June 7, 2025 (Register by May 22, 2025)An SAT workbook is included.  Update on Class Materials for Math:  1) You do not need to buy a calculator for SAT class. Whatever you use in regular math class will be fine.2) If you use a school-provided calculator in math class that stays at school, then you *may* want to bring their own calculator to SAT class, but3) A graphing calculator is built-in to the new digital SAT. No purchase required. All students should bring a Chromebook/laptop/tablet to SAT class because then they can see real questions and the provided calculator in the Bluebook app. To successfully complete SAT math questions, students need a scientific calculator at minimum, not graphing, but again, a graphing calc is built into the app. The instructor will give a paper-and-pencil practice test on the first day, and will allow students to use any calculator they want, including the one on their cell phone.If you have any questions, contact the Commed office and we will be happy to assist you. 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Sewing - Sewing
This class is based on your own individual project. The first class is held at Jo- Ann Fabrics in Westford, where you will receive help in choosing a pattern, fabric, and the supplies you will need for your project. In the following classes, you will learn how to measure correctly, read, adjust, cut out a pattern, and put it all together. Bringing your own sewing machine to class is required.  Instructor: Therese Quinn.About Our Instructor:Therese Quinn has been sewing for the past 35 years, and has taught adult education for the past 16 years. She is experienced in making girl officer, crossing guard, and cheerleading uniforms. Also she has experience in making and altering bridal gowns and wedding party dresses. Along with those, she makes custom drapes, English smocked dresses, and children’s clothing from christening dresses up to prom dresses.
