In this fun and focused 6-week course, you'll dive into the art of short story writing, from that irresistible first line to a satisfying final sentence. Along the way, you'll explore the key building blocks of fiction: crafting compelling plots, creating realistic characters and dialogue, and designing just the right setting for your story to come alive. You'll also learn how to give and receive helpful feedback, tackle the editing process with confidence, and get tips on how to pursue publication (if you're ready to share your work with the world). By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with a complete short story all your own, and the tools to keep writing more.Instructor:  Via LuinoAbout the Instructor: Via Luino has an MFA in fiction writing, and she is the author of the young adult novel All the Scattered Stars, which is forthcoming from Running Wild Press in April 2026. She has over 25 short stories and poems published, including a Pushcart Prize nominee, and she has taught English and creative writing to children, teens, and adults in the US, Peru, Mexico, and the Czech Republic. Via also loves traveling and hiking, especially with her dogs.

Learn the art of sushi-making in this unique class.  Experienced chefs, Sara & Jaleel make sushi making accessible, fun, and engaging for everyone, no matter what your culinary abilities are.  All materials will be provided for students to make vegetarian and California rolls during class.
