Creative Writing NEW!
This four week course introduces students and writers to the basics of creative writing fiction and poetry, with a path toward potential publication! The Writing Workshop is a learning group that engages in learning about the basics of creative writing fiction and poetry: form, voice, rhythm, plot and character building. Students will learn to use language inventively and effectively.
Weekly classes will alternate between being generative spaces, where students learn about an element of writing and are able to free-write to a generative prompt or activity, and workshops, where students share their work aloud with peers and receive positive and critical feedback about their work.
At the end of the course, there will be an open lesson on submitting written work to journals and magazines, and an introduction to the process of publishing longer works like poetry and novels! Writers of all levels are welcome. Some outside reading may be encouraged, but is not required.
