Through step-by-step demonstrations and personalized guidance, participants will build confidence in their artistic voice and complete several finished paintings. Whether you’ve never picked up a brush or want to refresh your skills, this class offers a supportive
environment to explore your creativity, experiment with materials, and enjoy the process of making art.
Course Goals:
By the end of this course, students will:
- Understand basic acrylic painting techniques (layering, blending, glazing, texture).
- Gain confidence in color theory, composition, and perspective.
- Develop a personal approach to subject matter and style.
- Complete at least two finished acrylic paintings.
Materials List:
Acrylic paints (primary colors, black, white, suggested colors and favorite hues)
Assorted brushes (flat, round, filbert, liner)
Panels or stretched canvases (two 11x14)
Palette (preferably metal or glass)
Water container, rags/paper towels
Apron or smock

About the Instructor: Crissie Murphy is a professional graphic designer, illustrator, and exhibiting fine artist. Her work spans corporate design, public art, and fine art exhibitions, including projects for Gillette, NASA, and the U.S. Air Force. She brings years of creative experience and a passion for helping others discover their artistic voice.
