Learn different methods of engaging someone with dementia through the day and through their progression of the disease. You will cover the dementia-based Montessori method, types of activities, why they matter, bonuses of engagement, executing a successful activity, and modifying activities. This class is appropriate for personal and professional caregivers, but not for those living with dementia.
Instructor: Olivia Companion
About our Instructor: Olivia Companion, owner of Purple Hydrangea Dementia Care Consultation and Support, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional (CMDCP) and has worked with caregivers and those living with dementia since 2013. Olivia finds a deep connection to those living with memory impairment and hopes to bring that same feeling to all caregivers. She has experience in case management, staff education and training, support group facilitation, and memory care leadership. Purple Hydrangea provides group education and individual coaching to better equip dementia caregivers with the tools that they need to feel supported, knowledgeable, and confident in their role.
