Cake Decorating 101 NEW FORMAT! Register View Cart

Learn to prepare your cake for decoration and how to make Buttercream Icing in different consistencies. Experiment with different bag striping techniques.  Pressure control and how to angle your bag to get the desired effect will be shown. Master creative decorating techniques like stars, rosettes, wavy lines, loops, borders, including zig zags, ruffles, shells, bead borders, leaves, and flowers.

Students will be required to bring a crumb coated cake to classes 2 & 4.

About our Instructor:
Christina took her first cake decorating class at Chelmsford High School when she was in 12th grade. After taking all 4 of the Wilton Cake Decorating classes (buttercream, royal icing, fondant, and Gumpaste), Christina showed a real ability and was asked by her instructor to become a certified instructor.  Christina got her certification as a Wilton Cake Instructor and has been teaching for over 20 years! What she enjoys most about teaching is the reaction her students have when they decorate their first cake.   Christina says, “I can’t believe I made this” is heard often after their first decorating experience in her classes.

Class Outline
Class 1: Introduction to tools and some techniques (no cake needed)
Paper and a pencil is recommended.
- Experiment with frosting, bags and tips (supplied)

Class 2: Exploring our cake decorating tips (cake needed)

Class 3: Learn to make roses (no cake needed)

Class 4: Basket weave cake with roses (cake needed)

Class 5: Reverse Buttercream technique (no cake needed)

Supplies Required (Not on the first class):
Materials will not be required for the first class. Your instructor will give more details for the best ways to purchase these materials individually or as a kit. If some items are difficult to find, instructor will have a small supply to use during class.
