Violin, Viola, Cello with Margaret Helfrick
Fall lessons will be 13 or14 weeks long depending on the day of the week and will be offered as in person classes on Monday evenings at the Chelmsford Community Education Building and on Wednesdays as a virtual lesson. About Our Instructor:
Margaret began learning violin in 1959 at the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, now part of the University of Hartford. In 1965, she joined the Manchester Symphony Orchestra (Manchester CT) and was a member of the violin section until 1969. During this time, she also became proficient on viola, performing in various school and community events. At Indiana University, she studied violin and harp.
After relocating to the Boston area, Margaret played in the Brookline Symphony for over a decade, first playing violin and viola as needed. In 1991 she began studying cello, and from then on played cello in the Brookline Symphony. Margaret also played cello in the MIT Summer Philharmonic for several years. Since 2004, she has been teaching via the Suzuki method and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and the American String Teachers Association.
